Tenant Resource Center

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Tenant Resource Center a real nonprofit?

Yes. TRC operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the Peace Education Center, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This means all of our fundraising and programs are fully compliant with state and federal nonprofit regulations.

Why don’t you have your own 501(c)(3) yet?

We are in the process of securing independent 501(c)(3) status. In the meantime, fiscal sponsorship is a common and widely used structure that allows new organizations to operate legally and transparently while building capacity.

Where does my donation go?

All donations are processed through the Peace Education Center and are tax-deductible under their 501(c)(3) status. PEC then directs those funds to support TRC’s programs.

Someone said TRC isn’t legitimate — how should I respond?

That’s misinformation. TRC is fiscally sponsored, fully compliant, and transparent in its operations. We encourage anyone with questions to reach out directly to TRC or the Peace Education Center for clarification.

What is fiscal sponsorship?

Fiscal sponsorship is when a nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status (like PEC) provides legal and financial oversight for a project (like TRC). This is a standard, widely recognized model that allows newer organizations to focus on their mission while building toward independent nonprofit status.
